The dangers travelling home after a long day in Parliament
You wouldn't read about …… on Monday after a late night sitting in Parliament, Steve was on his way home in a 'Comcar' (Commonwealth car) when the driver collided with a "bouncing kangaroo". Steve and the driver are ok, the car is not good and the kangaroo seemed to hop away with probably a bit of a headache. The irony is that that same day in Parliament FAMILY FIRST was introducing a Bill to protect the "flying kangaroo" - that is to protect Jetstar so jobs and operations remain in Australia. Then, the next night, Steve was heading home again when the driver was forced to make an emergency stop in nearly the exact place as the incident with the kangaroo. This time it was because of a fierce Canberra hail storm. Steve and the driver were trapped in the car for more than 20 minutes while large hail stones pounded the vehicle. All part of the 'adventure' of being a federal politician!
